World United v. Armagh NI Supporters Club
In what has become a regular fixture WU traveled to Armagh to play a team from the local branch of the NI Supporters Club. Missing a number of regulars the team traveled with just the bare minimum 11 players, leaving Manager Moffett little in the way of options. In glorious sunshine the game started at a steady pace with both sides playing football in the middle area of the park. As the game progressed the Armagh side worked a few close range openings whereas the WU’s chances came from long range efforts. With the game evenly balanced Armagh broke the deadlock just before half time. Yes! Toraz our ever reliable sweeper scored with a looping header; just a pity it was at the wrong end of the field!
After the interval Armagh pressed forward and extended their lead with two further strikes. Three goals adrift, WU dug deep and displayed great character to level the scores. Goals from Saliu Embalo, Amadi Cunbassa and Adulai Djalo rocked the home team and made for an interesting final ten minutes. However, without the availability of fresh legs the WU challenge ran out of steam and the Armagh lads seized the advantage and scored three times more before the final whistle.
The match whilst keenly contested was played in an excellent spirit with both teams truly representing the “Football for All” ethos.
Result: Armagh NI Supporters 6 - 3 World United.
