A ruthless attacking display from World United resulted in a comfortable victory as they saw the year out in style.

It was apparent from the outset that a young Crossroads side – who admirably filled in at short notice – would struggle with the pace and flair of the in-form hosts.

Straight from kick off, World United showed they meant business as midfielder Niall Murphy displayed an impressive piece of skill to dance through a hesitant defence, only for his close range drive to find the side netting.

It wasn't long however, before the deadlock was broken as target man Niall Murphy slotted home following good work on the left flank from livewire Zamora. Further cracks in the visiting defence were exposed as Boyd and Zamora added goals to put the dominant hosts 3-0 up.

Despite trailing, the north Belfast side’s continued to battle and on albeit sporadic occasions, threatened to trouble the home goal marshaled by veteran Tom Hall, although a cutting edge was clearly lacking.

Niall Murphy fired home a fourth to assert a comfortable lead at the half time interval.

The second half followed a similar pattern as the first as World United continued on the front foot as the fitness and morale gradually began to wane. Sure enough, further goals were added by Niall Murphy, Zamora and Boyd, with the pick of the bunch a left-foot volley from Boyd into the far corner to complete his hat-trick, following an inch perfect left wing centre from the dazzling Zamora.

With a quarter of an hour played in the second period, a goalmouth scramble ensued as the Crossroads goalkeeper made a stunning treble save before finally being beaten at the fourth time of asking, as Zamora tapped home his second of the game from close range. Five minutes from time, Murphy rifled home his fourth of the game and World United’s ninth to wrap up a comprehensive victory.

Although all the home goals came from just three players, there were notable performances from midfield pair Aruna Djalo and Anthony Shaw and young full-back Yaya.
