World United 4 – 4 Street League

Wednesday 9th May 2012

Seaview, Belfast

A super entertaining midweek match at Seaview and the scoring was opened up by S.L. on 5 minutes catching out the W.U. midfield on a counter attack and cross across the goal to make it one nil. W.U. equalised shortly after through debutant Maciek as he closed down a bad back pass and coolly side footed the ball into the corner.

S.L. again took the lead with a carbon copy of their first goal, the attacking W.U. formation was leaving the midfield to get overrun and changes were made, with the strong Vrskovi Zoltan coming on. The equaliser came in the second half through another debutant, Mohammed who showed amazing individual skill to travel along the wing from the halfway line beating 3 players, cutting inside and leave goalkeeper and defenders on their backs to make it 2 goals a piece.

S.L. again went ahead, this time a long ball to their speedy forwards caught the back line sleeping but yet again W.U. equalised with Maciek scoring his second of the game, a direct free kick 25 yards out hit hard and low through the wall and thundering into the bottom corner.

Into the last 10 minutes and W.U. went ahead for the first time, when the ever eager Amsu never gave up on a long defensive clearance and rounded the rushing keeper to tap into an empty net to make it 4 – 3 to rapturous applause from the packed sideline. But alas, the honours were to end even as the Street League team forced a fourth goal in slightly dubious circumstances, with one or possibly two borderline offsides in the move, but overall a deserved draw in a very competitive and high spirited match that had a little bit of everything.
